Connecticut State University

The Connecticut State University System is a huge endeavor compromising of four main universities located throughout Connecticut. They comprise of the Eastern, Western, Central and Southern universities. Running successfully into its 27th year, the whole system centers around a very impressive mission of brining out an exemplary educative system that recognizes and advances the educational needs of the society and promote students so they perform well within the global system.

All the four universities work well within the conjunction of serving its mission well. The Connecticut State University System is governed by a special Board of Trustees that manage the working of all the universities.

The Connecticut State University System or CSUS as it is popularly referred to as, was started in 1983. But before it attained its present status, Central Connecticut was already going well. It was established in 1849 and was functioning as any other normal school would do. Similarly, there was the Eastern Connecticut that was set up in 1889, the Southern Connecticut in 1893 and the Western Connecticut in 1903 All these schools were established to train teachers in their specialized vocations.

Their mission and curriculum was revamped and all the four institutions began to follow the new procedure in 1959. When all the four joined together to become one whole being, the CSUS became the biggest and oldest public university system in the whole of Connecticut.

The Eastern University is located in Willimantic, the Western University is located in Danbury and the Southern in New Haven. Business and Psychology are the most popular streams in these four universities. Besides that, there are several graduate and undergraduate programs. They also offer online courses and degrees so that individuals spread across the globe can better their prospects and start a promising career.

The lectures and assignments could be completed online because the student need not come to the campus at all. There are great opportunities for those students who live to wish on the campus and study. Several athlete programs are offered to both male and female students. The universities coming under the CSUS have a very strong alumni foundation. They are a special family that work consistently towards the betterment of the society and by managing the socio-economic changes occurring everywhere in the world.

When compared to other universities in the state, The Connecticut State University System has projected a 11% rise of freshman applications across its four universities.

The CSUS is on the same level as the SUNY in New York which has more or less the same mission. They both aim to promote the highest quality education available to students by surpassing geographical barriers and other differences. Both The SUNY and CSUS provide a comprehensive academic program to meet the growing demands of the learning community.

Since CSUS accepts transfer students, the popularity of the system grew no bounds and they began to really climb up. They accept students from CT Community Colleges, out- of- state universities and even from independent colleges. They have foreign students each year and a huge number of them are inducted to continue their education even in the final year.

You can apply for financial aid depending on which university you are planning to enroll in. The Free Application For Federal Student Aid or the FAFSA requires that you enroll in their website if you want aid. There are several fake sites claiming to be FAFSA, but make sure that you get into the right site. FAFSA do no charge students for student financial aid applications.

To become eligible for FAFSA, you need to have a good academic standing and completed a minimum of 6 credit hours. If you are a matriculated student at CSUS, it will be an added advantage. A student receiving the financial aid should continue the same good progress he has been exhibiting in the past years. A slack in academic skills and the aid would be cut off. Apart from FAFSA, there are other scholarships and grants that are offered by the CSUS like the ACG, SMART & TEACH GRANTS, PELL GRANT, Hope Scholarship and so on.
